It’s been a while and there’s a lot to tell but also, not much has changed.
The pandemic rumbles on despite the fact almost nobody wears their masks in the supermarket anymore. Tattooists are opening up next week, and pubs and restaurants are already open again – which is amazing for these industries – but it’s also bloody scary.
I’m stuck somewhere between never wanting to leave the safety of my sofa again and wanting to dive right back into the mix without a care in the world. But I won’t be doing that fully until I’m comfortable and confident so it may still be a way off.
I still can’t believe we’re living through a global pandemic, man. I’m quite proud actually that we’ve got to this point, it’s been really hard at times – there’s been maximum worry and stress, naturally – and we’re not out of the woods yet – but we’re still here and personally, my mental health is just about holding together. Better than I would have imagined anyway. Small victories and all that.
In other news, exciting news, Glynn and I have moved into our own little house. It’s honestly the cutest little house I’ve ever seen in my life and we get to live here! Sure, you can’t get to the back door or the aforementioned sofa because of all the boxes but it’s still ours.
This weekend is going to be another frenzy of unpacking, getting rid of cardboard and flat-packing furniture. We’ve made so much progress already, I’m getting pretty good at assembly now. I can work an allen key like a consummate pro, yo. We’re not open to visitors yet but it’s exciting to see the home taking shape and I can’t wait to share it with the people I love.
I’m absolutely determined to become houseproud finally in my adulthood. I guess maybe that’s the difference between renting and owning? (She tells herself). I’ve even been following Mommy blogs to get tips on cleaning, how sad is that? Apparently doing around 30 minutes a day is the key to staying on top of everything (presumably with longer at the weekend) – so I’m going to try that when we’re properly up and running. You know what else I’m most looking forward to? Hanging washing in the garden!
Have I changed? Watch this space.
In the meantime, I hope you’re all well and holding up okay. I hope you’re all looking after yourselves and staying safe, wherever you are.
There’s nothing much more to report this end but the Blog Collab will be back this week and we’ll be looking at Spike Lee’s latest movie. I’ll also be reviewing a couple of books.
